Statement of Purpose

"We are growing a New Testament Church of Spirit-born, Spirit-filled, Spirit-led believers with a life and love commitment to Jesus, the body of Christ, and the world of people for whom Christ died."
Dr. Jerry A. Robinson, Senior Pastor

In 1984, the Pulpit Committee of Madeira Baptist Church called Dr. Jerry A. Robinson, our beloved pastor now for over 25 years.  Bro. Jerry, as he is affectionately known by the congregation, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord on December 21, 1974, in McMinnville, TN.

Formerly a successful businessman, Bro. Jerry had a true conversion that led him to repent from his former lifestyle.  Now he is as dedicated to the service of our Lord as he was once committed against it.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:  old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."  II Corinthians 5:7
With great love for God's people and Scripture, Bro. Jerry has faithfully preached the "whole counsel of God" throughout his tenure at Madeira Baptist Church.

"Dependent" with Direction

Many people first ask us whether we are Southern Baptist or Independent.  We have become accustomed to saying that we are dependent Baptists--dependent upon Christ and His Word.  With this foundation, we have a focused direction to reach Clay County for Jesus Christ.

Previously located on Madeira Drive in Orange Park, FL, we moved to our current campus on Blanding Boulevard in 1998.  Closer to the geographic center of Clay County, we have continued our efforts to reach out personally to the community with genuine concern and the truth of God's Word.  Our congregation has a wide range of ages, ethnicities, talents, and occupations, but we enjoy a Spirit-led unity as a body of believers.

In 1989, as a part of the church direction, Dr. Jerry Robinson founded Madeira Christian Academy to provide an educational service to the community:  "academic excellence with a Christian emphasis."  With affordable tuition, students from Clay and Duval counties have benefited from the small class sizes, personal direction of caring teachers, and pre-eminence of Jesus Christ in every aspect of the education.  For more information about what Madeira Christian Academy can offer you and your children, please click here.

Madeira Baptist Church is also a local agency of the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Florida.  We have been privileged to have had a part of meeting the needs of Clay County families with this food assistance program.  Please click here for more information about our Food Bank.

The most impactful ministries we provide are a part of the weekly worship services at Madeira.  The direct, biblical preaching that comes at each of these services is central to our direction.  For whatever condition or circumstance in which you find yourself, the clear presentation of God's Word week in and week out can minister to the root of your concern.  There is truly no better way to be blessed by the ministries of Madeira than to attend our worship services.
